Therapy-Led Learning Hub CIC
The Therapy‑Led Learning Hub is a specialist space designed for children who require a gentler, regulated, therapy‑centred approach to learning. Our environment combines sensory‑integration practice, movement‑based regulation and functional skills development, delivered by a paediatric occupational therapist and sensory integration practitioner.
Based in Houghton‑le‑Spring, we support children across Sunderland, County Durham, South Tyneside, Washington, Newcastle and surrounding areas.
Who the hub supports
The Hub provides therapeutic learning for children aged 5–16 who experience:
- Sensory processing differences
- Emotional regulation needs
- Neurodevelopmental conditions (ASD, ADHD, DCD)
- Anxiety, trauma or school‑based distress
- Difficulties attending mainstream school
- EHCP requirements for therapy‑led intervention
- Section 19 needs due to medical or emotional barriers to attendance
We work closely with families, schools, multi‑agency teams and Local Authorities to ensure each child receives the right level of support.
Governance and structure
The Therapy‑Led Learning Hub is delivered by TO‑OT Children’s Therapy Ltd and governed by a separate Community Interest Company (CIC).
- The CIC oversees educational and alternative‑provision elements.
- TO‑OT provides clinical occupational therapy and sensory‑integration services.
This structure ensures the Hub meets Alternative Provision standards, maintains high‑quality therapeutic practice, and delivers EHCP Section F outcomes with fidelity

A therapy‑centred learning pathway combining regulation, functional skills and accredited achievement.
Therapeutic Learning Sessions
Small‑group or 1:1 sessions integrating sensory regulation, movement‑based learning and functional skill development.
Occupational Therapy & Sensory Integration
Evidence‑based OT/SI woven into daily routines, supporting motor skills, sensory processing, executive functioning and independence.
Alternative Provision (AP)
Therapy‑led part‑time or full‑time placements for children unable to attend mainstream school, with a structured therapeutic curriculum.
Section 19 Provision
Suitable education and therapy for children medically or emotionally unable to attend school, including daily regulation support and multi‑agency involvement.
Functional Skills Development
Support with routines, independence, motor coordination, organisation, self‑care and everyday living skills.
Emotional & Sensory Regulation
Sensory diets, movement breaks, co‑regulation strategies and personalised regulation plans.
AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS)
Accredited, flexible units recognising progress in:
- Functional skills
- Sensory‑motor development
- Emotional regulation
- Independence
- Therapeutic learning pathways
Units are standalone, adaptable and aligned with EHCP outcomes, allowing children to gain recognised achievements at their own pace.
Multi-Agency Collaboration
Ongoing communication with schools, SEN teams, social workers, educational psychologists and Local Authorities to ensure consistent, joined‑up support.
